The Compassion for Children CBO is a community-based organization in Turkana, Kenya. We exist to protect and empower vulnerable children, ensuring they are healthy, educated, and safe.

A world where every child enjoys survival, protection, development, and participation.

To enable all children to reach their optimal physical and emotional health and well-being.
The Challenge in Turkana
- 79.4% of people live in poverty (vs. 31.6% nationally).
- Only 1 in 5 children has an adequate diet.
- 82% of residents have never attended school; literacy is just 20%.
- Girls face early marriage, child labor, and high dropout rates.
What We Do – Our Strategic Pillars and Objectives
Our work is built on five strategic pillars (2025–2030):
- Education & Child Sponsorship: Expanding support from 47 to 150 schools, launching child sponsorship, and promoting inclusive education.
- Child Health & Nutrition: Mobile health outreaches, school feeding programs, and WASH projects for children and mothers.
- Child Protection & Child Rights Advocacy: Community protection committees, child rights clubs, and campaigns against early marriage and child labor.
- Community Resilience & Livelihoods: Training households in climate-smart farming, savings groups, and alternative livelihoods.
- Youth Empowerment & Leadership: Life skills, leadership training, and youth-led community projects.
